The Global Press Peace Summit (GPPS) is the definitive global assembly dedicated to the protection, advocacy, and professional resilience of media practitioners operating in high-risk environments. high-level international convening designed to confront one of the most urgent human rights and peacebuilding crises of our time, the summit will be held in Nairobi, Kenya in September, 2026.


The three days Nairobi International Summit on Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts will convene global leaders, governments, UN agencies, media institutions, human rights defenders, philanthropies, foundations, private sector leaders, telecom companies, peace actors, and journalists from across the world.

Capacity Building 
(Immediate Safety)

To equip journalists with practical, life-saving skills, including physical risk assessment, emergency first aid, digital security, and psychological resilience to survive and operate in high-risk environments (such as Sudan, DRC, and Gaza).

Policy Advocacy
(Legal Protection)

​​To mobilize international political goodwill and humanitarian stakeholders to develop and adopt a formal Summit Declaration. This document serves as a collective mandate to be submitted to the United Nations and other international agencies to demand stronger enforcement of protections for media workers under international law.

Sectoral Unity 
(Collaboration)

To bridge the gap between the media and humanitarian sectors by establishing formal partnerships (MOUs). This ensures that journalists are recognized not just as observers, but as critical components of the global humanitarian response who require coordinated protection.

TRACKING THE SUMMIT

The 3-day convention will utilize a hybrid, interactive model combining safety training, dialogue, and policy drafting :

Day 1

Intensive Safety & Survival Training

  • Hands-on, life-saving skills for journalists, including hostile environment risk assessment, first aid, digital security, psychological first aid, and secure logistics.

Paper Presentations / Testimonial Panels

  • Six thematic tracks where researchers and practitioners present findings, informed by emerging threat categories
  • Dedicated sessions for “Stories from the Field” featuring journalists and aid workers who have survived attacks.

Global Convention & Policy Adoption

  • Journalists, humanitarian actors ,Head of States, Delegates, Unions representatives, Journalism Associations, Media Councils. Plenaries, roundtables, and a closing at KICC, Nairobi.
